This year鈥檚 event explored immersive technology and the future of marketing, looking at how virtual and augmented reality听can be used by the industry.

Around 200 people 鈥 including BU students, staff, and industry professionals - attended the 2017 event, which took place in the university鈥檚 Fusion Building.

Marketing Communications student Zoe Gardiner was one of the team of six students who organised the event.

She said: 鈥淚t鈥檚 been a really exciting and enjoyable experience. We鈥檝e learnt lots of good skills and developed useful contacts in the industry.

鈥淰irtual reality is such a new technology and topic for marketing and so we wanted to explore how it can be used, who鈥檚 currently using it, and what people are doing with it.鈥

Head of Innovation at Brandwidth Dean Johnson, Director of CEW Communications Cathi White, and Innovation Lab Manager at LV= Mike Mallia were speakers at the event.

The industry leaders shared their first-hand experience on how virtual reality and augmented reality is making inroads in education, training and marketing disciplines across a wide variety of industry sectors.

A panel discussion explored some of the opportunities and challenges of implementing immersive technology and augmented reality techniques, while attendees also had the chance to try out virtual reality technology for themselves.听
