The first leg of the global Festival of Learning has started in Chennai, India, with talks and presentations from BU staff and partner institutions.
The Festival is due to visit Pune and Delhi, alongside Chennai, as a part of a week of events in India to showcase the university's expertise. Alongside the Festival activity in Chennai, the team will be launching a new report, 'Global Talent in India: Challenges and Opportunities for Skills Development in Higher Education', which has been conducted by BU's Dr Sonal Minocha, Dr Chindu Sreedharan and Dr Dean Hristov. The report will be launched at a press event in Chennai and give insight in to the opportunity for students in India and how the UK Higher Education market can play its part.听
Speaking ahead of the Festival, Dr Sonal Minocha, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement), said, 鈥淭he global Festivals are a chance for us to showcase some of what makes BU brilliant, while at the same time deepening links with partners, alumni and influencers in key markets. It is also an opportunity for our staff and students to travel and represent BU across the world, I鈥檓 incredibly proud of what we have achieved with our global Festivals over the last few years and I cannot wait to get started on the global Festival of Learning in 2018.鈥
For 2018, the overarching theme for the Festival of Learning is 鈥楪lobal Education 2050: Inspiring Learning, Delivering Impact鈥. As the week continues, participants will be giving presentations and engaging in debate on the subject of the future of global education.
As well as BU staff, a number of students are in attendance to help run the event, and to capture the event, creating social media and multimedia content. Pictures taken by the students can be viewed below.听
