Tonight: LGBT History Month public lecture by Stuart Milk
Join聽SUBU and BU in the Share lecture theatre on聽19 February from from 6.30-8pm聽for a LGBT History Month public lecture with Stuart Milk, international human rights activist and youth advocate.
Stuart is also the co-founder and Executive Chair of the聽. As the nephew of Harvey Milk, the iconic civil rights leader, Stuart has taken his uncle鈥檚 message of authenticity, and example of courage and the power of collaboration onto the global stage supporting local, regional and national human rights struggles and emerging LGBT communities in over 60 nations.
Stuart was the official surrogate on LGBT rights for US President Barack Obama and he successfully led campaigns for the establishment of the annual 鈥楬arvey Milk Day鈥� state holiday in California in the US. He has also accepted the highest civilian honour in the US - the Medal of Freedom - on behalf of his uncle, from President Obama, as well as led historic campaigns to have Harvey memorialised on a US Postage forever stamp and a newly commissioned US Navy ship - the first LGBT person to receive either honour
