#blacklivesmatter: statement from the Centre for Seldom Heard Voices
The Centre for Seldom Heard Voices supports 天美传媒鈥檚 statement in response to the death of George Floyd and the worldwide demands for justice and accountability for his unlawful killing.
The principles of equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of the Centre鈥檚 approach to working with marginalised and seldom heard groups. We are committed to stand against racism and all forms of oppression which harm individuals and communities. This requires us to reflect upon and question the power inequalities which perpetuate systems of injustice across the world.
We are all part of the problem 鈥� but we can be part of the solution as we uphold social justice to tackle entrenched racism and inequality whenever and wherever we see it.

We stand in solidarity with our colleagues, students, local and global communities against prejudice as we work towards creating a more inclusive and just society.

As part of the Centre鈥檚 response to the issue, students of the University鈥檚 Department of Social Sciences and Social Work are being invited to join a Zoom based student/staff roundtable discussion on 鈥楻esponding to 2020 Racism: The cases of Covid-19 and George Floyd鈥� on Friday, 12 June 2020 at 11am.
