Did you know that we use over 100,000 disposable coffee cups on BU campuses each year?聽To聽take action聽against this issue,聽we have decided to聽implement a no聽disposable coffee cups week聽this week聽(Monday 17 鈥� Friday 21 June) across Talbot and Lansdowne campuses.聽
If you wish to聽purchase聽a hot drink this week, please remember to:聽
- Bring your own re-useable cup
- Drink in our outlets using crockery
- Join the returnable cup scheme.聽
Remember choosing a reusable cup means that you avoid the 30p cup tax that comes with聽purchasing聽a disposable cup.聽
How does the returnable cup scheme work?聽
- Join by聽purchasing聽a returnable cup for 拢3.95 from Chartwells or SUBU outlets across campus (excluding Dylans)
- Keep your cup for as long as you like or return it in exchange for a clean cup. When you hand over your cup for cleaning,聽you鈥檒l聽be given a token
- Next time you want to聽purchase聽a drink, just hand over the token and you will be given a new returnable cup.聽
This scheme aims to help us to avoid forgetting our reusable cups and avoid carrying around a dirty cup.聽
