Biography

Alain Ponton was named Research Director at Laboratory ‘’Matière et Systèmes Complexes’’ MSC University Paris Diderot in 2011. Graduated in Physics at University of Bordeaux I PhD 1989), he held a postdoctoral fellowship from University of Trois Rivières in Quebec, Canada during 18 months before joining the National Center of French Research in 1991. Since the last ten years his research has been focused on the study of complex systems in order to progress in the understanding of static and dynamic properties of these soft matter systems as well as for fundamental research aspects as for technological applications. Significant results have been obtained for examples in cosmetic concentrated water in oil emulsions and micromulsions, viscoelastic properties of titanium and silicon alkoxide-based materials elaborated through sol-gel process biopolymers, thermosentitive copolymers and magnetic fluids and nanocomposite biopolymer networks. A part of the research activities is carried out in collaboration with partners from industry. At the same time he is group leader of the research team ‘’Dynamics and Organization of Soft Matter’’(13 researchers) and a board member of the French Group of Rheology. Parallel to that he has some responsibilities in coordination of French-Spanish Master on Soft Matter Physics, in several conferences, meetings, workshop (the three last ones: ’workshop on complex materials’’ june 2014, Annual European Rheology Conference 2015, international summer school on elaboration and characterization of materials ECMM 2016). He built up international collaborations with Spain, Romania, Germany, Algeria, Tunisia (co-advisory of PhD students).
