Biography

Dr. Marcel Yotebieng is a medical doctor and an epidemiologist. He is currently holding a research faculty position in the Department of Epidemiology of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He resides in Kinshasa, where he provides field oversight to the University of North Carolina’s Technical Assistance Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). His research focuses on sexually transmitted infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS in particular, and their impact on Reproductive Health and Child Survival. As an epidemiologist, he is also interested in the modeling of causal effect and potential applications of the Generalized Additive Model for Location, Scale and Shape (GAMLSS) in the analysis of epidemiologic data.
