Determination of Mg isotope ratios in tooth samples using MC-ICP-MS

5th International Conference and Exhibition on Analytical & Bioanalytical Techniques

Abstract
Major cation Mg 2+ was present in enamel as major substituted species. The quantity of Mg and the Mg isotopic ratio in tooth can provide information on the environment, dietary habits, and oral health of individuals. A fast and effective method for separation, preconcentration and isotopic determination of Mg with rich calcium of tooth samples is by MC- ICP - MS technique, after cation resin was established. Separation of Mg was achieved by cation exchange chromatography of AG50W-X8. The ?sample - standard? bracketing technique was used to correct the instrumental mass bias. The established method of Mg isotope provides an important scientific basis for ancient population migration, Palaeodietary analysis and disease by Mg isotope of ancient human teeth.
Biography
He Mao-yong is mainly engaged in trace elements (B, Sr, Pb, Se, Zn, Fe, Mn, Cr, Mg, etc.) and non-traditional stable isotopes (B, Cl, Ca, Mg, Li and Fe) determination method and to apply these trace elements and isotopes in health, environment and climate change. More than 50 relevant papers were published, including 17 articles of SCI. His research interests include New Analytical Techniques for Isotopic Analyses using TIMS and MC-ICP-MS Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology and Biogeochemical Behaviors of Trace Elements and Isotopes in the Teeth.
